Technical Definition

4K = 4,000

The name "4K" refers to approximately 4,000 areas which include the entire world while gently focusing attention on where the gospel is needed most.

These areas are comprised of existing civil divisions of different levels (e.g. nation, region, province, state, district, county, municipality, etc.) which have been reorganized into a single system using "ABC-369." (ABC three, six, nine)

"ABC - 369"

"ABC - 369" is a missions-focused approach to geography.

"ABC - 369" uses population and availability of the gospel to arrange existing civil divisions of various levels into a single system of 4,000+ areas called, "Omega Zones."

By using civil divisions, 4K leverages vast amounts of existing public access data and missions research and provides an organizational framework by which multiple data sets can be correlated.

Each "Omega Zone" region has the following criteria:

  • In a civil division where the gospel is widely unavailable (World A), the population is no more than 3 million.
  • In a civil division where the gospel is moderately available (World B), the population is no more than 6 million.
  • In a civil division where the gospel is widely available (World C), the population is no more than 9 million.

When its population exceeds these values, a civil division is divided into the next lower level of civil divisions.

When there is no appropriate lower civil division, social, linguistic and cultural input has been used to design equitable 4K sub-divisions.

"ABC - 369" Updates

"ABC - 369" is designed to dynamically reflect reality.

Each Omega Zone is defined by a civil division, a population figure and a gospel availability assessment.

Change to any of these components changes the configuration of the 4K map and will require an update.

"ABC - 369" requires an update schedule which coincides with the release of United Nations population projections at the beginning and middle of every year.

At that time, verified changes to civil division, population, and gospel availability assessments are also incorporated into an updated version of the 4K map.

4K World ID Codes

4K uses a cascading taxonomy of alpha-numeric codes to organize and correlate information related to every level of civil division, from the national level to the smallest administrative units for which information is available.

This code structure is designed to address the dynamic reality of constantly changing civil divisions while providing a universal reference system for categorizing information geographically.

This cascading taxonomy of alpha-numeric codes provides a simple yet powerful data correlation mechanism that can be used to share data without requiring extensive, complicated database integrations.

Shared information can be correlated to any level of 4K World ID code, creating a practical mechanism for generalizing and/or anonymizing data which can then be shared without compromising security.
